Sizing Up: Throwing Bigger and Off the Hump is perfect for potters who have a good solid grasp on the basics of throwing but are struggling to make things as big as they'd like. Here’s your chance to go BIG!

Content

We start by understanding where you are in your throwing practice and what challenges you have to throwing larger. Then we begin a series of exercises to strengthen critical skills and develop your familiarity with working with larger weights of clay. Finally, we push the boundaries of size by seeing just how large you can go with your newfound skills!

Firings

To get the most out of the Sizing Up intensive, we highly recommend that you keep nothing - that you focus on the skills needed to throw large.  Rarely outside of an experience like this will you have the opportunity to throw as much clay as you can without concerns for recycling your clay.  

For those who would really like to bring something home, you can choose to take pieces home immediately at the leather hard stage, paying for the clay by weight, and firing them at your leisure at home.   Or you can choose to have us bisque and glaze fire pieces.  In that case, there is an additional cost for the firings and the shipping.  

Prerequisites

This course is suitable for potters who have mastered the basics of throwing and are ready to take on the technical challenge of making bigger, bolder work.

Cost

This intensive costs €750 for 5 full studio days. Accommodations is €60-130 a night in addition.
