The Six 2026
The Artists
The Six 2026 brought together six ceramic artists - Amanda Ball, Annabelle Dionne, Clare Price, Georgia Zoric, Karie Miller, and Suemi Chiba - from across the world for six weeks of sustained studio practice at Il Baciarino. From February 12 to March 26, 2026, the cohort worked across a broad range of approaches - hand building, throwing, and the particular possibilities that open when the two are combined - each pursuing their own body of work in a fully equipped studio with access to wood, gas soda, raku, and electric kilns. The residency closed, as it always does, with a group exhibition.

The Process - Told through Video
The Six 2026 was documented across four videos: a record of what six weeks of sustained creative practice actually looks like from the inside. The first follows the cohort as they arrive, settle in, and begin to find their rhythm in the studio. The second goes deeper, asking each artist why they make ceramics, what inspires their work, and what they want their work to transmit. The third opens into memory and personality - the funny stories, the childhood influences, the fears overcome. The fourth closes the residency with a single question put to each artist: what did you learn? Taken together, the four videos are a portrait of what emerges when six women give themselves six uninterrupted weeks to take their play seriously, together, in one place.

The Six 2026 closed with an exhibition at MuVet (the Museo Civico Archeologico Isidoro Falchi in Vetulonia) open to the public from March 19 to 23, with a formal opening on the afternoon of March 20. Six weeks of shared studio life had produced something visible in the work: an unplanned coherence. Six distinct practices, six distinct voices and yet the pieces spoke to each other in the way that work does when the people who made it have been living and working and laughing in the same space for long enough to let it show. This is what community does to making. This is what The Six is for.
