I have been delving into the alchemical world of eco-printing; the marriage of fibre and forest. Over the last year, I have explored how bamboo, silk, linen, cotton, and wool each absorb botanical imprints differently. Leaf after leaf, bundle after bundle, I have taken pleasure in the process. Following the seasons, using natural processes and materials, the mark making process is slow and muted, but the results are spectacular - alchemical! More than in any other art form I’ve explored, this process speaks to ancient practices of harvesting from our surroundings to create beauty. This exhibition and exposition is the result of that voyage.
Join me at Galleria Franco Maria Ilardo in Grosseto, Italy from December 5, 2023 to January 5, 2024. There will be a series of works on display, as well as a selection of scarves, bags, and other accessories made with these eco-prints.
